Letter from School Leadership
St. Joan of Arc School is an exciting place where students learn in a caring and nurturing environment. Our devoted and expert teachers and staff approach the task of Catholic education with enthusiasm and joy.
SJA has enjoyed an excellent academic reputation for over 60 years and students continue to excel when they leave us to enter public and private high school programs. The entirety of the curriculum from kindergarten through eighth grade encompasses a broad and diverse study offering courses in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, and foreign language. Our Catholic identity is infused with STEM education.
The St. Joan of Arc experience places heavy emphasis on STEM education. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics are integrated into each course of study. As stated in the mission statement, we believe in utilizing God's gifts to develop 21st Century skills of innovation, collaboration, problem-solving, and reasoning to enrich the global society. SJA has implemented a STEAMtrax curriculum, utilizes the 3D printer, collaborates with the Outreach Program from Northbay on environmental projects, implements digital resources to teach and reinforce concepts. Application of concepts learned is evidenced through inquiry and project based learning in programs such as Lablearner, Discovery Techbook and Streaming, LEGO Robotics and WeDo, Seaperch, collaboration amongst grade levels (6th and Kindergarten Honeybees and Chick projects). This aids in ensuring that students develop deep understanding of concepts and the ability to think independently and apply concepts in unique situations.
Our Catholic identity is evident as we participate in the life of St. Joan of Arc parish by attending weekly liturgy, participating in parish and community outreach projects, presenting and participating in special prayer services. Older students learn leadership as they model respect and responsibility for the younger students.
Visit St. Joan of Arc School and see firsthand the friendly and enriching environment where students can learn, grow and achieve.
